about

Take Control was recorded and mixed by Joseph P. Durniak at Perfect Tree Studios in Brooklyn, New York, Summer/Fall 2018.

The first track is called “Music Box.” Marco started the track with a sample of a carousel music box. He manipulated the sound and built percussive rhythms and synthy tones upon it. Nina added lyrics that express her feelings of how life can be repetitive, the same song again and again but it’s up to us to take control and make our lives the song we want to sing.

The second track is called “Baltimore on Fire.” Marco was in Baltimore during the month of August and he felt like it was a hundred degrees. That unpleasant feeling inspired him to create a nostalgic build up to an eruptive dance filled energy which eventually backs down to a melancholic ending. Nina’s words reflect the feeling of loving someone knowing you’ll never receive it back. She pleads “turn around, turn around, turn around to me... but you don’t love me.”

The third and last song of the release is called “Do You?” This is the first song Marco ever wrote but it was never released. This modern New Wave song is mixed with tribal percussive beats. It has the classic sound of the synth Juno, popular in the early 80s. Marco’s vocals match the European New Wave sound.
